SILVER AUCTION AT PUYALLUP, WA ON MAY 14
Silver Auctions is staging a collector car auction at the Puyallup Fair and Events Center on Saturday, May 14. Mitch Silver anticipates about 100 vehicles will be offered. Consignments are still being taken.

Silver said that the auction on Saturday will be "a special, open-to-the-public, insider's opportunity, to buy and sell distinctive cars."

Among the notable offerings scheduled are a 1961 AMC (Nash) Metropolitan coupe, a 1957 Studebaker pickup truck, a 1963 Studebaker Avanti coupe, and a rare 1972 Suzuki 750 Hurricane motorcycle.

The 1972 Suzuki 750 Hurricane is affectionately known as "the water buffalo" among vintage motorcycle enthusiasts. That's due to the fact that the 750 cc, two-stroke engine is water-cooled; 1972 was the first year of importation into the United States for this unique machine. It marked a turning point for Suzuki.

Vehicle check-in takes place on Friday, May 13, between noon and 7 p.m. To consign a car, truck or motorcycle, call 1-800-255-4485; visit the online grid at www.silverauction.com, and then purchase available spaces (lots) directly online from the Silver website.
1961 AMC metropolitan

This distinctive, yellow and white 1961 AMC Metropolitan coupe will be offered for sale in Puyallup, by Silver Auctions, on Saturday, May 14.

Entry fees (to sell) are $100 or $150, dependent upon time of day. Commissions are eight percent for vehicles with established reserves ($200 minimum); no reserve vehicles are five percent commissions ($100 minimum).

Preview and bidder registration are from 8 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. on Saturday. The auction starts at 10:30 a.m. and runs to about 5 p.m. Financing is available through JJ Best Collector Car Financing or AFC (Automotive Finance Group). A buyer's fee of eight percent is in effect for all completed sales.

1972 Suzuki 750 Hurricane, considered by many as a rare and historically important motorcycle. Show winning, liquid cooled 750 2 stroke street bike. First year of import into the U.S.A. Also, first Japanese liquid cooled motorcycle.

Stutz Bearcat and other Rare Brass Era Cars Coming to Auction
Heralded by Bonhams & Butterfields as the largest collection of Stutz motorcars and spares to be offered in more than a decade, the renowned Don and Lynette Short Collection will be auctioned on Saturday, May 21, at the Port Townsend Aero Museum, near Seattle, WA.

IMMENSE COLLECTION OF AMERICAN AUTOS TO BE AUCTIONED

Bonhams & Butterfields has announced the sale of the Wallace “Wally” Lewis Collection of classic American cars in Portland, OR, on June 11, 2011

auction1

This remarkable collection consists of a large variety of sports, touring and muscle cars, including some of the most iconic and desirable American cars ever made. Also included will be the sale of mechanical parts and spares.

Bonhams CEO Malcolm Barber calls the Lewis Collection “That rare kind that takes a lifetime to assemble. More than just financial resources, it requires a keen eye, focus, passion, and enormous amounts of time to build something so significant, and Bonhams is honored to represent its passing on to a new generation of stewards.”

The following are just a few examples of the more than 90 vehicles being auctioned:

auction21936 Ford Model 68 Deluxe Club Cabriolet (left) – As the era of side-curtain roadsters was drawing to an end, along with the practice of marooning people in the rumble seat when it started raining, the Club Cabriolet offered a more civilized means of carrying up to five people, with the ability to raise the top and wind up the windows in inclement weather. Under the hood is a 221 cubic-inch V8 engine, and the odometer indicates just 31,601 miles.

1965 Ford Mustang GT Convertible (right) - This luxury package "A" code Mustang convertible is powered by a 225 horsepower, 289 cubic-inch V8 motor with Cruise-O-Matic transmission and dual exhaust. It has power steering and disc brakes, and rides on factory mags with belted red-line tires. The Pony interior is well fitted and the car has the GT dash with multiple gauges and a fresh white vinyl top. The odometer indicates 34,985 miles.

auction41957 Chevrolet Corvette Roadster (left) - Fuel-injected Corvettes of this vintage seldom come to market, particularly in stylish onyx black with silver coves, considered among the most attractive color combinations available. The fuel-injected option offers 283 horsepower from its 283 cubic-inch engine, and the mileage is recorded as 76,524 miles.

auction51955 Chevrolet Bel Air Convertible (right) – Superbly restored in Regal Turquoise over India Ivory, this car carries an astonishing 37 options, and could be the most heavily optioned ’55 convertible in existence. It's powered by a 180 horsepower, 265 cubic-inch Plus-Power package V8, with a 4-barrel carburetor, with a 2-speed Powerglide automatic transmission, and dual exhaust.

Other classic autos available at the auction will include:

  • Chevy Bel Airs: Convertibles from ’55 and ’56, and Coupes and Nomads from ’55 thru ’57.
